Patient Workflow & Process

Registration – Capture of patient details, TB number assignment for new cases

Triage & Screening – Symptom evaluation, risk profiling (HIV, diabetes, malnutrition)

Clinical Assessment – Physical examination and diagnostic workup request

Diagnostics – GeneXpert, sputum smear microscopy, chest X-ray, Mantoux test

Initiation of Treatment – Based on classification (DS-TB, DR-TB), weight bands, and regimen guidelines

DOT – Enrolment in Directly Observed Therapy Short Course (DOTS) with follow-up

Monitoring & Follow-up – Regular reviews, sputum conversion checks, side effect monitoring

Completion & Discharge – Clinical outcome documentation and reporting to NTLD-P

Pediatric TB – Diagnosis and treatment of childhood TB including malnutrition support
Referral & Collaboration

Referral to County TB Coordinators – For MDR-TB and complicated TB cases

Integration with CCC – HIV co-infection screening, ARV initiation, and adherence support

Lab Services – Seamless coordination with hospital lab and NTLD-P reference labs

Linkages with Nutritionists – Nutritional support for undernourished TB patients

Community Health Volunteers – Assist in DOT monitoring and household contact tracing
Patient Education & Community Sensitization

TB Awareness – Education on transmission, prevention, and adherence

Infection Control – Advice on cough etiquette, isolation practices, and hygiene

Chronic Respiratory Care – Use of inhalers, lifestyle modifications, and breathing exercises

Public Outreach – Sensitization campaigns during TB Day and in high-burden communities
